What will Massage Therapy do for me?

A PLACE OF BEING

Your breath is deep, your body is still on the table,

the essence that is YOU starts to float, let go and fly;

your nervous system opens, expands and allows,

creating physical shutters and twitches,

your blood pressure drops -

and as the stress and tensions of your "scheduled mind" unravel

a deeper part of who you really are feels and knows

that ALL truly is well ...

Massage can be simple in application, but it's multi-layered in the results. We all have the basic need for human touch - it calms our nervous system, it slows and deepens our breath, it restores our mental and emotional bodies and it gives our physical body the nourishment it's pleading for.

I have come to this conclusion; it is in this place of total awareness ~ when your body is given time and attention, truly allowing it to properly restore ~ it is here that true healing can take place.

What some doctors may not reveal is that no one but YOU can heal yourself. As health care providers, all we can do is bring your body into the best place of homeostasis - or balance - where your body can once again function with ease. If I am doing my job well, I will bring you to a state where your body can choose to heal. This may happen on the table, 6 hours after you leave or a week later.

Much depends on how you treat yourself after you leave my office. Drinking lots of water, getting plenty of sleep, conscious exercise where you breath deeply and feel good while you move...eating food that is alive with energy to give your body real nourishment. The good news is, once you feel good again - it's addictive - and you get much better at giving time and the effort to take care of yourself.

The Touch Research Institute is dedicated to studying the effects of touch in massage therapy. The institute has documented research on the effects of massage therapy at all stages of life from newborns to senior citizens, and studies have shown that touch has many positive effects.
